I enjoyed LAZRtag's remix of Passion Pit's tune Little Secrets, so when I saw this pop up I thought I'd give it a listen and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. Thankfully LAZRtag didn't ruin the tune - just changed up the vibe :)

Hey all! The amazing indie rock group Manchester Orchestra have a new album AND AND AND they're offering a free limited time download of their song Simple Math.

I know I downloaded it and I certainly was not disappointed. =D

The song has a certain "worldly sadness" to it but the lyrics "what if I've been trying to get to where I've always been" brings a feeling of hopefulness - like Andy Hull (vocals and guitar) has had a revelation or an epiphany or even a realisation of how he's living his life.

I suppose one underlying message I caught was that it's important to realise what is right in front of you, to stop chasing because what you have right there.

It also made me think about what is right and what is wrong and if the morals of a "good Samaritan" are actually right.

Everyone thinks they're doing the right thing... But what might be right may be wrong... And sometimes doing the wrong thing can be the right thing... Or lead to it anyway. AACK... Just listen to the damn song =P

So I read this blog called Dumb Bass. It's pretty alright actually.

Anyhow this artist Kevin Saunderson posted a message through the Dumb Bass blog about this DJ group who've used a loop of his original track from back in '87 and claimed it as their own... Uuuh well! It's been a while.

Things have been very eventful that I just haven't had a chance to update. Sorry to those 11 people that barely read this blog anyway =P =P

I've been on holidays running around to social events like a wedding and two music festivals and hotels (I'll dedicate another blog entry to photos).

work's been full-on. The bottom levels of the building we were renting were flooded so we've had to temporarily relocate and we're all sharing one space together. It's working out pretty OK surprisingly. But I just like my privacy and have my coworker's constantly looking over at my computer screen which isn't fun at all.

So that's been the ups-ish parts of my busy time.. My un ups-ish parts have been me falling ill with some coldy flu thing and a blocked nose and cough I can't seem to shake. GOOD NEWS BUT -- I'M FINALLY GETTING MY GALLBLADDER OUT YEEW! 2nd of March in fact... So that's not too far away. SCARY. My first and hopefully last surgery! No more gallbladder attacks. Yaye =D =D =D

Hey all.

I don't really get personal... I mean this blog was just for me to muck around with and post pictures, art, music and whatevertheheck else... So I don't really talk about my life much, which I think that's why I don't have a lot of followers? I mean most people that have a lot seem to spill their life on these things...

So by now you've probably realised that I'm not too good at talking about myself. I guess I'm not an open person that way. Sure I'll talk about little things here and there like things I do or see or how I feel on a certain subject... But that's not really ABOUT me or my life story. So yeah... Sorry? I guess?

It's like this with everyone... Even my closest friends that I've grown up with from when I was little But I guess by growing up with me they've been there when things have happened anyway and know from that. Even then they still don't know everything.

So anyway... I just felt that I should explain this so you have SOME direction of where this random blog is going... And it's not going in this one haha xDD

Floods.

Hey all. It's not been so good for me today. Amongst the flooding and seeing the devastation I have also had a gallbladder attack. Luckily I was able to get to the Dr's in time. He gave me an injection of Tramadol which lasts 12 hours and then prescribed me the tablet form of the drug. So THANK GOD!

Yep. Experiencing flash flooding here in Australia's "Sunshine State" Queensland.

I'd rather be flooded with joy to be honest.

Here's a link to the flood in Toowoomba so you can get an idea of what's being passed down to us.

It's said that the floods now are going expected to be worse than the '74 floods. (Click link for more info on that).

SO FAR that have been 9 confirmed deaths and that's expected to double. 72 people are said to be missing.

My heart goes out to those who've experienced the worst. I'm thinking of you all <3.

There have been some silly's posting on facebook that have made me LOL like:

So I thought I'd share that lovely conversation with you all. xDD The weather here in Sunny Queensland Australia has been quite the opposite of its' name.

It's been raining aplenty. Some places have flooded. We've had a couple of sunny day and I was grateful for New Years Eve being a lovely and golden sunshiney day. My friends and I spent the count down chilling out on the beach watching the sunset and eating pizza. Sooooo nice. I should probs upload a picture eh?

So yes, it was very nice.

8 VIEWERS... HELLO BRETHREN. HOW BE YOU?

Okay so I became victim to a hangover... for the second time of my 19 (almost 20) years of life.

SO... I really mean it when I say NEVER AGAIN. I actually don't drink to get wasted... But this time I didn't realise how much I had drank until I looked at the bottle and realised there was none left... Not a drop... And also when I needed to pee and walked into three walls. Ha... NEVER AGAIN.

Horrible... Stuck in bed with a bucket beside me drinking gatorade, water and one dry cracker. It lasted until about 7 pm because I fell asleep sometime in between there...

But anyway, during the night I was skyping with friends and one of them added a random he met through some gaming site. He's a Brit and I remember him talking and I was like "WHAT? WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? YOU'RE SLURRING.. WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?" you know... whilst I was drunk and slurring myself xDD hahaha.

So wow. Yes kids, never again. Never ever ever again. EVER.

On a nicer note - I can't wait for Sparkadia's new album "The Great Impression" :D I'm listening to their 08 Album "Postcards" and their track Sleeping Lion is quite lovely. Probs my theme song for the day, today.

Awesome. So this is the OBSERVATION OF THE DAY

Nothing too big or amazing or anything.

I catch the train home quite often. When I got on today a dude gave me like a surprised look and then several other people continued to look throughout the whole trip (30 mins). I thought I had something on my face so I kept checking and I fixed what I was wearing just in case something was wrong but I couldn't find anything.

Anyway when I got off I was still thinking about that weird ride and it occurred to me that it might be because I'm wearing bright red lipstick...?

I mean, I often wear a soft-coloured lipgloss if I can even be bothered... But I decided to be a little bold today. Anyway, someone at work said "what are you all dressed up for?" and I'm thinking "I'm not dressed up... I'm wearing a button-down shirt with shorts and black stockings" then I replied "Oh it's probably my lipstick" and they replied "OH that's it..."

So there you have it... Bright red lipstick can make you look dressed up I guess... and change people's reactions towards you.

Sorta weird when you think about it.

Sorry for the lack of blogging - I HAVE been really busy. I'm exercising everyday on the cross trainer, exercise bike as well as doing 40 minute walks. So ready to lose all this weight- YEEW!

But I can do it and if you're reading this and you're wanting to lose weight, too... I"ll tell you what my mother told me...

"You know, you can get fit if you want to"

And I want to... So I am. I've started a food diary and am keeping track of what I eat. I'm not restricting myself of everything because that just leads to a binge of the foods you're craving - so instead I'm having little bits or reducing it to like one treat once a week. I don't like sweet stuff anyway. Just reducing my portions.

I'm really feeling good and I'm feeling really good about myself, too. Empowerment - YEAH!

Okay so I've read a lot on dieting. Like how going on some diets like the grapefruit diet will only make you lose body fluids and muscle tissue and as soon as you're off the diet all the weight packs back on and blah blah blah blee blee blah.

SO if I'm going lose weight I'm going to do it right. Alright? ALRIGHT. *determined nod*

This week I have started a food diary so I can monitor what I eat and drink, what times I eat and how I've felt at the end of the day.

Then at the end of the week I'll have a look at what I've eaten and see how I can improve.

Now the NEXT thing will be to get myself motivated to exercise (as if putting on 15 kg over Winter hasn't been enough motivation). We also were given an exercise machine called a "Cross Trainer" from my Aunty. SO I shall be getting on that for about 30 minutes once a day and then get to 30 minutes twice a day and then continue to progress and eventually build enough courage to go to the gym.

I don't like gyms... People watching you get sweaty and puffing like The Little Engine That Could doesn't really work for me (I think *puff* I *puff* can *puff, wheeze, collapse*) ... So this option of the Cross Trainer seems to be the one I'm comfortable taking for the moment.

Aww this made my day...

I was asked to participate in an online review blog called Critical Mass for the Brisbane Festival here in Aus. In one of my reviews I described not just what happened during the performance, but also the interesting journey there. Anyway, they're looking to continue the blogging for other events outside of the festival and so they're having a meeting tonight, but I couldn't make it. So I thought it was best to call in rather than send a dodgy e-mail explaining why I couldn't attend and the lady who helped organise the blog said she enjoyed my reviews and hoped that I would continue writing and that her favourite was the review that described my journey to the event.

YAYE! That really made my day, maybe this is something I should pursue?

Phoenix hadn't really been a band that I'd taken the time out to listen to until about last month.

Sure I've heard a couple of their songs like Lisztomania, Run, Run Run and Rome on Triple J, but I guess I just took my time to say "Bonjour!" to their tunes.

I find a lot of art through deviant art and I have my own account, but recently work blocked it.

So excuse me if my blog is lacking artists... They have also blocked flickr, etc etc etc. I know that DA and Flickr aren't the be-all-and-end-all of art, but I like that you can interact with the artists through there.

*sigh*

Anyway

If I have mentioned this artists before, too bad. I'm mentioning her again. Courtney Brims is a Brisbane-based artist and I'm in love with her artwork. She's self taught and is inspired by fairytales - which is probably why I love her work as well. She signed with Element, so you can find her artwork on some of their shirts! I bought two containing these two pieces:

She's just amazing. Check out her artwork when you can. I'm sure you'll fall in love with it as I have.

I'd show you my favourites... But they're all my favourite haaaa... xD

While I'm at it - there's an artist from Sydney called Lang Leave, aka Akina. She's also inspired by fairytales like those of the Grimm Brothers as well as Tim Burton. Her artwork is morbid, funny, poetic and... I just love it. *hugs Akina's work* She hand-makes all her books containing her artwork and poetry. Lang actually gave one of her books to Tim Burton, lucky fella. PLEASE check her out! She doesn't seem to have a gallery on the website so you might have to do a bit of googling around. =]

The Bastard Fairies are a pretty darn good band.

I don't know THAT much about them but I've just listened to their track "The Greatest Love Song" and it's pretty damn great. The lead singer's a woman and she sounds... Sort of like a mix between Lisa Mitchell, the lead singer of Ladytron... with a tinge of folk... Overall a great indie band, IMO.

So pretty much all I've been just keeping up with work, friends, family and the usual events and outings.

I've been listening to all sorts lately! I finally bought The Middle East's EP along with The Swell Season, The Chemical Brother's newest album "Further", Ratatat's album LP,4, aaaaaaaaaand Pendulum's latest album Immersion. Oh and a bit pat on the back to Pendulum for their amazing remix of the ABC's News Theme!!!! One of the best tributes to the ABC ever, in my opinion of course.

Anyway - so last time I promised to upload photos of the sunset my mate and I chased on the way home from work - so here ya go:

The photos don't do it any justice...But we tried! The colour was just absolutely beautiful! Stunning!

Have you ever chased a sunset?

On the way home from work, heading towards the train station, my friend and I were in awe of this sunset.

I had my digital camera with me and I was trying to get a good shot but it JUST wasn't working in the car.

During our travel, we remembered there was a park coming up that would have a great view... My friend and I only had about 30 seconds before the sunset would be changed and the moment would be lost and uncaptured.

So we pulled over in the park's car park, ran across the road and snapped some GREAT shots of the sunset.

When I can, I'll upload the pics for ya's to check out in the next blog! They're beautiful! ( PHOTOS TO BE CONTINUED IN NEXT BLOG)

For now, here's a shot we took about a month ago outside of work with my iPhone. I contrasted it a little so that you could see the sunset better. You can JUST make out the colours... We caught it just in time! =]

The Finder's Keepers Markets were pretty alright. Jade and I didn't get to see the bands, but we perused through and found some awesome stuff... However a lot of it was a little overpriced and a girl can only spend so much.

I bought three lovely bags from Lauren Carney, a Brissy artist with funky, cute, gorgeous and beautiful illustrations.

It was held in the Old Museum at Fortitude Valley in Brisbane. I didn't take any photos while I was inside because there was too much hustle and bustle going on in the little place.

On our way back to the train station we spotted a TV that was dumped and I snapped it for it's chuckle-worthyness. (click on the photos for full photo version)

Hello Readers that may or may not be existent...

I've realised I like monsters... and strange things... and morbid things... Things that stand out... Misfits and all... I wonder why that is...?

I also find dark tones calming... You know?... I don't know... Haha

Don't say it's because I'm crazy or weird... xD Or maybe it is because I'm crazy or weird? Maybe I'm crazy AND weird... Okay I'll shutup with the rambling...

I've also realised that I like imperfection... I mean with people... not with personality but with appearances... I like how one foot or eye is bigger than the other... Because it's what makes people unique y'know? Sure you might have a big fat mole on your face, but it's your big fat mole and you should love that big fat mole... Unless it becomes cancerous and you have to get it removed. Hrmm... But that's not my point.. xD I'm hoping you see my point in there ^^^^... Somewhere.

Q: What's the worst thing you can find out about a gig you're planning on going to?

You check out the updates on a band's page and realise they're playing in your city that night. GREAT!

So you call and text people and let them know it's on and that you're going and that it's going to be FAN-TASTIC... It gets to the point where you're about to wet your pants with excitement and you're bouncing off the walls at the thought of being serenaded for only $15 dollars... but wait - is it $15? Better double check, just in case... So you click to the website of the club they're playing at... The website reads:

Boy & Bear's EP Launch tonightat the Troubador along with The Chemists and Oh Ye Denver Birds - 8 pm. 11th June...

With big fat red text on top the information saying -Sold Out-... FML

A: TICKETS SOLD OUT

Tragic isn't it? Just like that song... "TRAGEDY! When the feeling's gone and you can't go on..."

Q: What's the worst thing that can happen to someone who doesn't kiss and tell?

It's study time and your parents have turned your house into a prison cell with no distractions - well... They don't know about the texts you've been sending that cute boy you've been getting quite close to... Oh look... Another text from lover boy "Hey, you wanna go out soon? iTunes? More like iritaTunes... or Dietunes!

Haha, fail on the pun heading.

So yes, iTunes... GAAAAH! I had a conversation with a coworker yesterday about how great but how annoying iTunes is.

I have a lot of music... Too much music - About 79.1 GB worth to be exact... I mean people probably have a whole lot more but far out!!!!! Enough to make my 16 GB iPhone complain and make me groan when I have to take off a couple of bands out of the selection list so that I can at least sync the darned thing.

Anyway, so yes, a lot of music means a lot of duplicates (from compilation albums, etc). What would be amazing is if iTunes got rid of the duplicates for you so you don't have to manually... Or at least put a notification up when you upload the music, asking you if you want to add it into the library as it recognises something similar... Idk... SOMETHING! I had to go through and delete a lot of duplicates... Blergh. For an example of my frustration... See figure 1.1

One day I shall create my own music program that will make things as simple and as easy as possible.

One day... But until now I shall put it upon myself to correct every little wrong within my music library in iTunes... Because I'm a prefectionist like that XD

So like most people I have a routine for getting ready for work in the morning.

1. Wake up 6.00 AM
2. Put on cd/radio

3. If I haven't already GET UP at 6.30 AM (laaaazyyyy)

4. Shower

5. Get dressed

6. Put hair product in damp hair then twist it into a bun so that it holds.

7. Makeup (moisturiser, foundation, powder, eyeshadow, sometimes eyeliner, mascara, sometimes blush)

8. Shoes.

9. Unplug phone from charger.

10. A coffee if I have time. Make bed if I have time

11. Shoes on at 8.30 and I'm ready to run, take down hair.

12. Hopefully would have arrived at work by 9.00 AM and sitting at my desk with a nice cup of espresso coffee... Mmm...

But this week my routine has had to change... I don't have a car so I usually get a ride with mother. However she's gone away for the week so I've had to rely on public transport... SO... My routine has changed a little... It's been different every day this week so I can only remember this morning's:

(had a shower last night so didn't have to have one this morning)

--HOME--

1. Woke up at 5.45 AM.

2. Made a coffee

3. Got dressed

4. Makeup

5. Hair

6. Shoes

7. Grabbed phone from charger

--TRANSPORT--

8. Was ready to roll at 7.10 to catch the 7.26 AM bus.

9. Bus arrived at the train station at 7.50

10. Caught express train to a station

11. Got off and switched stations.
12. Arrived at bus stop at 8.25, waited for the 8.34 AM bus

13. Stopped and got off at stop closest to work at 8.40.

14. Arrived at work at 8.50!!!!

^^^^^^^^^^^ THAT IS A FRIGGIN MIRACLE!

You see yesterday the 7.26 bus decided to drive by at 7.20!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I missed it by 6 mins!!!! I saw it go by right before I crossed the road :( Then to make matters worse the next bus that would have gotten me to the station at about 8. AM WAS LATE! So I ended up getting to work an hr late. Woopie. -_-

Anyway, this morning I'm happy that everything ran on time for once... This is one for the books.

I didn't mind this week too much to tell you the truth. I mean you can't ever really rely on public transport, take yesterday's frustrating late bus issue for example (Grr I'm on time for you why can't you be on time for me?!). But there's really nothing you can do about late public transport. So if a bus is running late... Make sure you take something with you for entertainment - just in case! Like a book, mp3 player, phone... OR you could also do what I did:

When I was leaning on the side of the bus shelter's wall, I'd stand up every now and again and look to my right, tricking people into thinking the bus was coming as they would get excited and turn their heads. >=] HAW HAW HAW! I did that for the whole 40 mins of waiting for that late bus... xD

I'd say this was a pretty successful week...

Let the Right One In.... Not the Left One... Jeez!

Hellew hellew!

Yes yes yes - I know slack with updating and such, not that many people are reading this but anyway (*sniff* there are no comments because nobody loves me waahaaarhh)... Back on track.

Heard of Let The Right One In? No? Well you have now MAHAHAAA! It's a wonderful and eerie Swedish movie (obviously subtitled) based on a 12 year old boy, Oskar, who has issues with being bullied by some boys from his school. He ends up meeting a "girl his age", Eli, and they become good friends. However she turns out to be a vampire who BURNS if she's exposed to the sun and is actually genderless. Duuun duuun DUUUUUN. Noooo Wahaaay! This movie could actually be categorised as a drama, more than a horror flick as it explores the best and the worst of humanity and it tugs at your heart strings a little. Also, the director hasn't overloaded the movie with gore and big loud noises that make you wet your pants and choke on your popcorn - which usually takes the eeriness/creepiness out of most horror films.

I found out about this little baby through a Rotten Tomatoes newsletter about a week or two ago, the picture looked interesting so I thought I'd check it out. I did the usual thing and youtubed it. The trailer looked great and I was hooked... So I decided to do some research to find out more and that's when I found out it was based on a book (gasp), written by a man who goes by the name of John Ajvide Lindqvist... If you know how to pronounce that, let me know!

Anywho, Let the Right One In was published in 2008 and has been placed on the "best horrors" list alongside Stephen King. It is now so widely spread that it has been translated into German, Chinese, Danish, Russian, English, Spanish, Polish, Italian (you get the idea) and was eventually made into a movie AND now a Hollywood re-make is on its way (please dont' ruin it please don't ruin it please don't ruin it).

I researched further to see if the original movie was as good as the book and I expected to find quite a few complaining reader-viewers (a new word!) as per usual... But I was wrong (I'll admit it for once). It seems these reader-viewers were highly satisfied with the outcome. This, I think, is because the director and the author sat down together and wrote the script so that it held the essence of the book. I'm too sure of the scriptwriting approval process .. Do the scriptwriters send the script to the author who then gives the "OK, tick!" for it to be made into a movie? If so, then that's probably why the movie was such a success because there was effort from both director and the author... If not then I guess these two guys are geniuses!

It's safe to say, gathering from what reader-viewers have said, that this collaboration was a success! I still have yet to read the book but I really did enjoy the movie. Let's hope the Hollywood re-make Let Me In is just as successful.

So yeah because you haven't I'll continue to inform you that they're an Aussie band from Sydney, NSW (dahurr) and have been described as an indie/folk/roots band with a hint of country... But I disagree on the country part. Whatever.

This song is by a folk band called Beirut from somewhere... The lead singer's voice sounds similar to Paul Dempsey from Something for Kate who now has his own solo project. So picture that voice with Yann Tieren's music (composer for the soundtrack of the movie Amelie`)... Just lovely.

Hey heyy

I know I’m not very consistent with this blog… but I try!

Good news this week: I’ve been offered a position in writing music reviews for a local magazine… I haven’t really done anything like that before! So let’s hope that once I gain some experience from there I’ll be able to incorporate that into my blogs here =] Can you say WIN?! I also gain free cd’s… EVEN MORE WIN!

Win win win win win! You just can’t say it enough.

- Anyway the other day I decided to make a playlist for myself to chuck on to a cd. The playlist ended up filling about 4 blank discs! Ha… >_>

I don’t have NERO so I can’t make an MP3 cd unless there’s another program you can use? Who knows… Why can’t WMP be amazing and have that sort of program? Or does it and I’m just not computer-savvy enough to know?
Oh yeah and when I organised all the songs -‘cause I’m anal about what song should go after the other, so I make sure the intro of the next song matches the outro of the previous- WMP decided to not save it the way I set it out, so the songs may seem a bit random after one another…

So,

I'm what you might call a "music head"... Or a "music maniac"...

Whatever works. =P

My tastes revolve around many genres and of course within those genres are subgenres...
Here's some of those genres:
indie, rock, folk, punk, alternative, industrial, electro, hardcore, punk, metal, acoustic, classical, instrumental, jazz... the list goes on... and my god does it go on. xD

I have gotten a lot of compliments on my taste in music but I just don't get it! Lol, really... I don't know how someone can have good taste in music? Maybe it's because the people that have complimented me on this like the same sounds I do?... Who knows!

I dunno... I guess I don't really mind what other people think about what I like to listen to. However, I annoyingly pipe up when I'm in a friend's car and they want to play Taylor Swift... So I do have an opinion about what other people like to listen to... and I'm learning to respect what they like as well.

God, sometimes I make it so controversial for myself! Lol. But music is everything to me and I hope I get to share with SOMEONE out there the music I enjoy through this blog.

Like earlier today... I was thinking if "I were to post them in a blog would people even bother checking them out or listening?"

I guess in the end it doesn't matter - this blog will probably always be here for people to look over and through if they need/want to.... and at least I gave it a shot, right? =]
